Greener House is a family owned and run nursery based in the heart of Brunswick in Melbourne. We specialize in plants that thrive indoors and in sheltered outdoor positions. Our focus is on providing tailored advice and education so that you can get the most of your plants. Josh and Maggie founded Greener House in 2016 from the front yard of their home in Brunswick.

About The Founders

Hi! I’m Josh. My love of plants originates from a childhood spent on farms and in forests in an area called Burramine in far North-East Victoria, right on the Murray River. The first plants I collected where were mostly tulips, cacti, and aquatic plants. After I moved to Melbourne to study horticulture in 2014, my focus shifted to suit my new environment. After graduating I started several small businesses until finally one stuck and Greener House was born. In my free time I love to fence (épée), cook, and read.

Hello! I’m Maggie! I grew up surrounded by the lush rainforests and beaches of my hometown, Wollongong, and spent most of my time riding horses through the NSW sclerophyll bushland. Plants and animals have always been a part of my life! I am a classical musician and actor, which brought me to Melbourne to study at the University of Melbourne, where I completed my Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History, with a particular focus on 20th century decolonisation and the Cold War. When I was finishing my degree, Josh had started Greener House and needed my help! I worked part time in the business for a few months, but once it took off it was all hands on deck, and I became a co-owner and co-founder of the business.
